Question

Why do the Roman Numerals have no zero?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
The digit zero is useful only in a positional number system such as decimal where the position affects the value of the digit. Thus 102 is a different number from 12 because the position of the "1" has changed and the zero is required as a place-holder. The Roman Numeral system is not positional.

Hope you help this...
