Question

Why do the water molecules have more energy compared to the molecules of ice at same temperature?

Open in App
Solution

1.The molecules of water have more energy than the molecules of ice at same temperature.

2.This is because as ice is melted to liquid state, ice absorb energy which is used in breaking the inter particles forces between the ice and water.

3.Hence water molecules have more kinetic energy. So at same temperature water molecule has more energy.

4.Ice absorb energy is used in breaking the inter particles forces between ice and water there fore water molecules have more kinetic energy.
