Question

Why do they mix well when there centres do not coincide
Q 2. A solution is formed when two similar substances are mixed. For example, water and salt form a solution, but water and oil do not. This is because:
• Water and salt are polar substances (wherein the centres of positive charge and negative charge do not coincide), so they can mix with each other.
• Oil is a non-polar substance, so it does not mix with water to form a solution.

Solution

Dear student,

This mixing is because of physical change no chemical change takes place.
During this mixing, the only compound breaks into ions and form solution. Their centres does not involve in mixing. In case of chemical change there need to be coinciding of centres.
