Why do veins have thin walls as compared to arteries?

Solution
Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart whereas veins carry deoxygenated blood towards the heart.
The heart continuously pumps blood into the arteries. Blood in the arteries flows under high pressure so they have thick walls to withstand the pressure.
Veins collect the deoxygenated blood from different organs and bring it back to the heart. The blood is no longer under pressure, so the walls are thin with valves to ensure that blood flows only in one direction.
