Question

Why do we call sugar a pure substance

Open in App
Solution

Pure substances are the substances which have fixed composition.
A pure substance has a definite and constant composition — like salt or sugar. A pure substance can be either an element or a compound, but the composition of a pure substance doesn't vary.
Since the chemical composition of sugar is definite and does not vary, hence it is a pure substance.
