In this, the current continuously changes with time and reverses its direction periodically.
Direct Current (AC):
In this, the current direction remains the same but its magnitude may change with time.
Advantages of using DC over AC:
Storage: Direct current can be stored, whereas, alternating current cannot be. So in order to store electric energy, alternating current is converted into direct current. Due to the same reason digital devices also use direct current.
Voltage consistency: Direct current supplies constant voltage, so in devices, like LED bulbs, where constant voltage is required direct current is used.
Hence, alternating current is converted into direct current.
