Question

Why do we do shearing in summers?

Open in App
Solution

Shearing is the process of removing fleece along with the thin uppermost of layer of the skin.Shearing for wool is done in early summer. This enables sheep to survive without protective coat of hair in hot weather. Also The fur of the sheep traps air and acts as an insulator so the heat generated does not flow out and keeps the animal warm in winter. As we know that while shearing the fur is removed from the body so the animal will feel cold in winter. Therefore, shearing is done in summer.
