Why do we get swelling?

Swelling:

  1. Swelling occurs when our organs, skin, or other body parts enlarge.
  2. Body parts swell when body fluid is trapped in a specific tissue, joint, or organ.
  3. It is of three types: Internal, external, localized, or generalized

Causes of swelling:

  1. The infection causes swelling, as some fluids accumulate at the site of infection.
  2. Small injuries are also responsible for swelling as tissue fluids are gathered at that site.
  3. Allergic reaction- causes swelling of large areas of the body, such as the face, and tongue.
  4. After repeated overuse, joints or tendons may swell.
  5. Swelling of the hands and feet occurs during pregnancy.
