Question

Why do we observe that the entire beaker appears bluish in colour when ink is dissolved in the beaker filled with water?

Solution

  1. Molecules of matter are never at rest, they are in constant random motion.
  2. When a drop of ink is poured in the beaker of water, all the molecules of ink start doing random motion and the ink dissolves in water.
  3. Due to this, the entire beaker appears slightly bluish in colour. This process is known as diffusion.
