The carrom board may sometimes be very rough. We sprinkle the fine powder on the carrom board to reduce friction between the board and the dots. The sprinkling of powder on the carrom board reduces friction and makes sliding smoother and easier. The result of smoothening is that friction between the striker and the board decreases and the striker slides smoothly on the surface.
