Substance which reduce the release of excess HCL by preventing the interaction of histamine with the receptions present in the stomach wall are called antacids .
The most commonly used antacids are umestidine and ranitidine .
Antacids are a group (class) of medicines which help to neutralise the acid content of your stomach. Antacids include aluminium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate and magnesium trisilicate. These come in various brand names and are available as tablets and liquids.
2)When water is added to calcium oxide (quicklime), it will be converted to calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) with the liberation of enormous amount of heat.CaO+H₂O=Ca(OH)²+heat It is an exothermic reaction. Calcium hydroxide is an alkali.We will dip a red litmus paper in the aqueous solution of Calcium hydroxide.It will turn blue indicating its basic nature.
