Solution

The concept used: Electricity used in home electrical circuits:

Each home is generally fitted with two different supplies, viz. 5 A and 15 A. The 15 A line is drawn by using thicker electric wires. The 5 A supply (called domestic light) is used for bulbs, fans, fluorescent tubes, etc. while the 15 A supply (called domestic power) is used for heaters, coolers, air conditioners, geysers, etc.

The body of the solution is:

  • The electricity of two different ratings used at home, we use a number of electrical appliances of different ratings.
  • Electrical appliances of different ratings have different resistances.
  • The current flowing through any electrical appliance depends upon its resistance. So, different appliances draw different currents.
  • Some appliances need smaller currents, while some others need heavy currents.
