Why do whales not have gills?

Solution
Whales:
Whales are aquatic mammals and are the largest known mammals.
They are entirely aquatic but come to the top surface to breathe.
They are warm-blooded creatures that give birth to their offsprings.
Though whales are marine animals, they don't have gills and instead have lungs, characteristic of mammals.
They cannot breathe underwater and thus come up to the surface to breathe.
They breathe via blowholes, nostril-like structures located on the top of their heads.
