Question

Why do winds move from an area of low pressure to high pressure and vice versa?

Open in App
Solution

Wind blows low pressure to high pressure, because low pressure air is less dense that high pressure air, so therefore it goes high to high pressure. This creates area of low pressure below the rising air. The area of low pressure is quickly filled by the cooler wind from the surrounding (High pressure region). That is how the winds move from an area of low pressure to high pressure and vice versa.
