Archaeologists consider Pushkarni as one of the most extraordinary works of excavation at Hampi because it is a highly functional structure with water running to a depth of three meters, brought from a long distance by a series of stone channels, and also a beautiful monument with steps arranged in a series of small pyramids. Each block of stone bears a short inscription in Kannada indicating its exact position in the construction. If the entire structure were to be dismantled, it would be completely and accurately reconstructed without any difficulty.
