Question

Why does a balloon stick to a wall after being rubbed against your hair?

Open in App
Solution

When the balloon is rubbed against hair, electrons from the hair flow into the balloon. Due to this, both the bodies become electrically charged. As the balloon is charged, it will attract any other uncharged body.
Hence, the balloon sticks to the wall due to the attractive force between the balloon and the uncharged wall.
