Question

why does a concentrated soap solution behave as colloid while a dilute soap solution behaves as a true solution?

Open in App
Solution

Concentrated soap solution shows Tyndall effect i.e. it scatters light passed through it. This is due to formation of micelles which are large particles or aggregate of soap and water molecules.
Micelles are not formed in dilute soap solution and a dilute soap solution dies not scatter light and hence is a true solution.
