Why does a gun recoil when a bullet is fired ? Explain recoil?
When a bullet is fired, the force is exerted on bullet by the gun to give it high velocity. Since for every action there is equal and opposite reaction, the bullet exerts same force on the gun which makes it recoil.
Recoil is the backward momentum of a gun when it is discharged. The recoil caused by the gun exactly balances the forward momentum of the projectile and exhaust gases (ejecta), according to Newton's third law.
