Open in App
Solution

You know that the earth itself acts like a big magnet. It has some magnetic materials inside it, so when we suspend a magnet with a string, the magnet always stay in north – south direction and the north pole of the magnet is pointing towards the earth’s magnetic south pole and south pole of the magnet is pointing towards the magnetic north pole of the earth.
