why does a red rose appear black in green light. does green light mean absence of white light which contains all seven colours including red

Dear Student ,
Here the petals of red rose absorbs rather than reflect green light .So the red rose appears to have no colour i.e it seems black .
Yes surely when monochromatic light is used then it means the absence of white light .
