Question

Why does bicycles stop when its break applied?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

When we apply brakes a vehicle stops because on applying brakes, the stoppers near tyres of vehicle comes in contact with tyres and apply a retarding force ( i.e. frictional force ) which prevents tyres from rotating. Thus, without further rotation of tyres the vehicle slows or stops depending on how strongly brake is pressed. Hence, the bicycle will stop.
