Constipation happens when the colon absorbs too much water. This canoccur if the muscles in the colon arecontracting slowly or poorly, causing the stool to move too slowly and lose more water.
1)Drink two to four extra glasses of water a day, unless your doctor told you to limit fluids for another reason.
2)Try warm liquids, especially in the morning.
3)Add fruits and vegetables to your diet.
4)Eat prunes and bran cereal.
5)Exercise most days of the week.
6)Don't ignore the urge to poop.
