Why does copper not react with HCl andH2SO4?

Open in App
Solution

A more reactive element displaces a less reactive element.
Since, copper is present below hydrogen in the reactivity series, therefore, it is less reactive than hydrogen and thus,
copper cannot displace hydrogen from acids like dilute HCl and H2SO4.
