Why does dehydration take place during diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea is a bacterial /viral infection in which patient suffers from loss of water through vomiting, increased urination or through large number of loose motions, this leads to condition known as dehydration. In order to maintain the normal water level in the body, person should drink sufficient amount of water & electrolytes.
