Question

Why does endosperm development precedes embryo development?

Solution

Endosperm is formed during double fertilization when one of the two sperms enter inside the embryo sac & fuses with two polar nuclei. Endosperm develops before the embryo because the cells of the endosperm provide nutrition to the developing embryo.
