Why does heating or cooling change the state of the matter?

Solution
Upon heating, the molecules obtain energy, they start vibrating and gain enough energy to overcome the force of attraction between them which holds the solid substance together. When they overcome the force of attraction, they can move apart from each other and convert into a liquid state.
Further heating of liquid will change the liquid to vapours as particles will leave the liquid surface.
On the other hand, Upon cooling, particles lose their energy. They cannot move freely and they come near to each other.
A point reaches, where all the particles come together. the attractive intermolecular forces develop and they convert to a liquid state.
Further cooling will convert the liquid to a solid-state also.
