Question

Why does India have a monsoon type of climate?

Open in App
Solution

India has a monsoon climate as its climate is influenced by the monsoon winds or the weather conditions that change from season to season.

This happens due to the differential heating of land and water bodies and pressure situations. In India, the monsoon usually lasts from July to September and 80 to 90 per cent of rainfall is due to the monsoon. The summer monsoon causes heavy rain when they blow from sea to land, while the winter monsoon winds blow from the interior of the continents to the sea and do not cause much rain.
