Question

why does iron rod increase the mutual inductance while iron sheet decreases the mutual inductance

Open in App
Solution

Iron rod works as a soft iron core which enhances the magnetic flux linked with the coil whereas iron sheet is a beaten iron in which when flux is linked eddy currents are produced which decrease the net flux linked with and thus reduces the mutual inductance.
