Why does meiosis occur during the formation of gametes?
It allows the number of gametes to be doubled.
It prevents asexual reproduction in the life cycle.
It prevents variations appearing in the phenotype.
It produces haploid gametes in preparation for fertilization.
Meiosis produces haploid gametes, so that when they fuse, the diploid number of chromosomes is restored.
"Gametes must be produced by meiosis for sexual reproduction". Why is it so?
