Tricki’s recovery required no surgery or medical treatment. He was naturally cured by giving him space and keeping him in the company of other dogs. There Tricki learnt to eat just as much as other dogs would, to run and play with them, the joys of being bowled over, tramped on and squashed every few minutes and getting into friendly scrimmages. He ran with the other dogs which allowed him to lose weight and become active again in two weeks. At home, Tricki was royally spoilt and lived a luxurious life. This made him obese and lazy. Thus, Mrs. Pumphrey thinks the dog's recovery is a triumph of surgery.
