why does our food tastes sweet after chewed it?

Dear student.

Saliva present in our mouth breaks down complex carbohydrates into its simpler forms . When we chew food for some time it begins to become sweet as carbohydrates present in it gets converted into maltose sugar which is simpler form of carbohydrate and is sweet in taste.
