2. The pitcher plant contains chlorophyll, hence it can do photosynthesis and prepare its food.

3. Pitcher plant grows in swampy areas where the soil lack nitrogen. So they can not get nitrogen from the soil where they grow.

4. So it traps the insect and digestive juices digest the trapped insect and utilize nitrogen needed for their growth.
