Question

Why does rusting speed up in presence of impurities like dust, etc? (apart from impurities like moisture, damp air, etc)

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

When the surface is dusty, impurities remain stuck to the surface, and these layered impurities when come in contact with air, or water or dampness, increase the rate of rusting rapidly, compared to a clean and dry surface, which does not allow water and damp air to react with it.
