Why does some liquid medicines kept in dark coloured bottles ?

Open in App
Solution

Some liquid medicines are kept in dark coloured bottles this is because some liquid medicines can react to the light but when they are kept in coloured bottles these help to prevent the medicines to come in contact with the light.
Example: Chloroform when comes in contact with light, it forms phosgene which is poisonous gas. Thus it is stored in an amber colour bottle.
