Why does state food gives a bad smell and bad taste? How this can be prevented?

Dear student , Stale food is decomposed because of bacterial and fungal growth leading to bad smell and taste. It can be prevented by refrigeration, cold storage or by adding preservatives to the food preventing microbial growth.
