why does tamilnadu recieve less rainfall from southwest monsoon wind then retreating or northwest monsoon wind?

The main reason behind this anomaly is the location of the state of Tamil Nadu which lies in the Eastern Ghats which is lower in altitude than the Western Ghats.It's location is in the rain shadow region as this state of Tamil Nadu lies on the Eastern Ghats which receives scanty rainfall from the south west monsoon winds.By the time of these winds reach the Eastern Ghats it becomes almost dry and could not provide much rainfall in this region.
