Solution

1. When current is passed through a coloured solution, the colour imparting constituents change their property due to the chemical effect of electric current and the solution becomes colourless.
2. For e.g when current is passed through a solution of CuSO4 its blue colour fades away and rusty brown copper metal gets deposited. This is due to chemical effects of electric current.
