Question

Why does the current flow in a closed circuit, but doesn’t flow in an open circuit?

Open in App
Solution

The flow of electrons is called as current.

When the circuit is open, electrons have no continuous path for movement. Therefore no current flows in an open circuit.

In the closed circuit, the electrons have a continuous path to travel and thus current flows continuously.
