Question

Why does the image formed by multiple reflections in mirrors placed parallel to each other become progressively fainter?

Solution

  1. Image formation occurs when the light rays from the object get reflected in the mirror.
  2. When two mirrors are placed one in front of another, an infinite display of images can be observed between them.
  3. But with each reflection, the light gets dispersed more and more and thus the image becomes fainter.
  4. For example:

Thus, this is how multiple image formation happens in the case of parallel mirrors.
