Why does the lattice enthalpy increase down the group for the alkali metal but decreases down the group for alkaline earth metals?

Lattice enthalpy is not for isolate metals it is for the metallic compounds that they form.
We talk about the lattice enthalpy of carbonates of first group and second group or sulphates of first group or second group metals.
