why does the mass number exclude the mass of an electron

Dear student,

An atom contains protons, netrons and electrons. The mass of electron is 1/1840 of the mass of the hydrogen atom which is (1u mass). So the mass of electron is too less to consider.
Mass number is the sum of protons and neutrons.
