Question

Why does the moon appear to move with same velocity as of car or us??

Open in App
Solution

It is related to the section RELATIVE MOTION

AS the moon is situated at long distance, with our naked eyes , we cant see its motion . MAny reasons are there for this. SO when we looks with naked eyes , it appers to be in rest at sky.

When we moves , there is a relative motion between us and the moon.
Resultant velocity of moon wrt. man = Velocity of man - Velocity of moon
= velocity of man - 0(as i told earlier) = velocity of man.

SO the velocity of moon wrt man = velocity of man

so we feel the moon is also moving with our speed.
