Question

Why does the rate of photosynthesis decrease at high temperature? Give reason chloroplast is said to be semi autonomous cell organelle for 3 markquestion

Solution

The rate of photosynthesis is maximum at optimum temperature which is 30- 40 0C. At lower temperature rate of photosynthesis is low because the enzymes involved in the reaction are less efficient at lower temperature. At higher temperature rate of photosynthesis is low because enzymes get denatured and thus reaction slow down. Chloroplasts are called semi autonomous organelles because they have their own DNA. And this DNA codes for some proteins used by the chloroplast. Moreover, they can generate their own energy and do not necessarily need the cell. But their replication is controlled by the cell.
