Why does the recoil of a heavy gun on firing not so strong as of light gun using the same cartidge?

  1. Recoil velocity depends on the mass of the body.
  2. As we know recoil velocity of the object is inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
  3. So heavy gun on firing does not produce more recoil in it as compared to the light gun when fired with the same cartridge.
  4. Because more the mass more is its inertia of rest.
