Solution

Dear Student,

When there is combination of two or more solids, we find the curved surface area of each solid to find total surface area of whole figure. This is because when there are two or more shapes , they overlap each other. hence some part of the solids are covered by other solid so in that case if we find total surface area of that solid shape and also total surface area of other solid shape. the overlapped or common shared area gets counted twice.
