why energy and work has same SI unit

Dear student
Energy is the capacity to do work and hence work and energy are interlinked to one another . The energy that we apply is equal to the amount of work we did against the force of gravity to lift anything to acertain distance . So , energy and work both have the same S.I unit i.e, Joule.
