Why Gandhiji decided to withdraw the noncooperation movement

Open in App
Solution

When the Chauri-Chaura incident took place in 1922, the protest took a violent turn since people clashed with the police and set the police stations on fire. Gandhiji always believed in a peaceful way of protest and was a non-violence follower. Since the protest took a violent turn, Gandhiji called off the noncooperation movement.
