Why is genetic code triplet, not doublet?

Genetic code:
The genetic code is a set of codons that undergoes translation to produce proteins.
The genetic code exists as triplets and not as a singlet or doublet because it doesn't provide enough information to synthesize proteins.
There are only four nucleotides - A, C, G, and U.
If the genetic code exists in a doublet format, only 16 different amino acids (4x4) can be formed.
A triplet code gives rise to 64 different combinations (4x4x4) and forms 20 amino acids.
Each triplet code is unique and forms different amino acids.
