Question

Why glucose is not found in the urine of a healthy person?

Open in App
Solution

Urine:

  1. Urine is a transparent yellow liquid with a pH of roughly 6, making it mildly acidic.
  2. The presence of urochrome, a pigment generated by the breakdown of hemoglobin, gives urine its yellow color.
  3. The color and pH of urine might change depending on a person's diet.

Composition of urine:

  1. Urine normally contains around 95% water and 5% solid waste, which includes both organic and inorganic components.
  2. In the proximal region of the nephron, glucose is reabsorbed into the bloodstream.
  3. As a result, a normal healthy person's urine is glucose-free.
