Why has iodoform appreciable antiseptic property ?

Antiseptics are generally antimicrobial substance which when applied on the skin or part of the body or living tissue reduces the possibility of infection mostly. It is different from antibodies as they work on the lymphatic system within the body to kill bacteria and disinfectants which kills the microorganisms found on the non living objects
Iodoform can also be used as an antiseptic to treat the infections, sores or any other kind of bruise present on the skin as when it comes in contact with the skin it liberates iodine which functions as an antiseptic an can be used for the treatment.
